CDC Revises Developmental Milestones For Young Kids

“Learn the Signs. Act Early.” Program – major initiative to educate families on what to expect from their children at each stage of development

CDC first launched the developmental milestone checklist in 2004. The original list listed capabilities that at least 50% of children at a given age would be able to demonstrate, updated checklists include milestones met by 75% of children at specified ages.

The hope of this checklist is to make it easier to spot kids at risk for developmental issues and reduce likelihood that families and professionals will take wait-and-see approach if kids are missing milestones.
